3 Month Checkup

Here’s how it looks in the entry hall at 5pm. Pretty cool, that people go home at a reasonable hour every day and still seem to get work done.

There’s a lot left to do, heck, there’ll always be a lot more to do, but a little reflection on what’s happened so far: hired a bunch of people (testers, developers, writers) and let some people go (change of plans more than anything else). Put together a build “team”, a lab “team”, and a “tools” team alongside the test team. Set some direction and vision, and now getting sharply focused on some certain areas.

Not a whole lot I can talk about without violating NDA, but here’s what I can say: it’s just as busy as at msft, but I’m not at all stressed about it. I love the challenges it brings every day, and I get to use all my skills together at the same time.

Three months in, I’m SO glad I made the change. I miss my old office and building (85, that was sweet) and my old team. I miss the vanpool most of all, believe it or not. That hour or so each way to work was a time to spend with just adults, and we got to talk about amazing things like the latest, greatest places to eat. Talking to people on the bus just ain’t the same… (though sometimes I’m willing to engage the crazies and schizos in a conversation just to see where it goes… kind of like reading random blogs).
