I’ve mentioned Scotch a few times, and figured now I’d throw this link to the Caol Ila Distillery up here. This scotch is unique in my mind because it’s got a really peaty, earthy aroma, but the taste is clean and fresh, almost disappearing as soon as it hits my mouth. Compare and contrast to the peaty, earthy presentation of Lagavulin, but the taste of it hits you like a block of peat. Chewy, almost.
My friend Keev and I spent the evening knocking back a few good servings of this, and the next morning we were both pretty chipper. I mean, not even an inkling of hangover slowness. Not that I want to push it, or anything, but the mellow smoothness seems to extend through to the next day.
