Monday, 14th of July 2008 at 07:52:34 PMApple has a lot of work to get MobileMe working as advertised. Little, if anything, works as flawlessly and quickly as their video overview would have you believe.
Mail
Rarely, if ever, syncs the state of the messages. I read messages on my iPhone, but the read status doesn’t get to the mac. The web app continually says I have 4 unread messages in the mail folder, until I click on the Mail icon. Then it shows 0. Once I click away, to cal or gallery, the 4 reappears.
Calendar
I synced my entire outlook calendar from my PC using Apple’s MobileMe control panel app, which took plenty long, but checking online, on the phone, or back on the mac, nothing shows up except for bookmarks.
Gallery
I have more galleries online than MobileMe seems capable of recognizing. Where are my orphaned galleries?
Performance
The perf of the web app, quite simply, stinks. User interface acknowledgement of an action — like a click — is just not there, so I have no idea whether it’s just slow or it didn’t register a click, or I didn’t click the right place, or what. Lame lame lame, especially from Apple.
Notes
Hello? WTF is it with the notes app on the phone? It’s a dead-end parking lot. Why no sync capability?
I’m very disappointed.
