This picture, the pose, and the hat were all done by Jake. He decided it would be funny to put his hat on Ginger, then he grabbed my phone and took a picture of her. Last Friday Jakey got dressed up as his principal, Dan. Shirt, tie, briefcase, slick hair (minus the leucotrichia), and a big grin. Duncan has a rich imagination. He’s always naming his toys fun names. He’s playing with cousin Ben’s rubber snakes and named both of them: Degas and Nuno. I’ll google the names later. Shed, big enough to banish a young boy in case he needs it. Jakey lost his second tooth today, so the tooth fairy is going to visit tonight. If I stay up late I may see her, too! I’ll get pix. Jakey’s very own endorsement for the Seattle Storm. The whole family, with Bear. Taj and Lola the Wonder Poodle: Family : Hey, I think I know these people! “Carou-sail.” This is what Jake calls the carousel. It’s pronounced kind of like para-sail, only it goes around in circles and stays closer to the ground. Now, it’s time for another episode of “Jakey, it’s time to go to bed” but he doesn’t want to go to bed and so he keeps coming up with excuses to not go to bed. He just wanted to fix Mac, he says. So, he is going to fix Mac and then he is going [...] Jilly sez: so i’m driving billy to work today and had my old driver’s license with me – finally getting around to making the name change on my social security card. my old license was one of those rare ones with a great picture. smiley, good hair day, etc. as we were pulling out of [...] …but someone fell fast asleep on the couch today. I recently re-took the Clifton/Gallup strengths assessment survey, and oddly enough I got almost exactly the same results as I did with their v1 test about 2 years ago. The only difference is in the #5 slot, where I have maximizer now instead of adaptability.I suppose this means their test is consistent or at least [...] Every now and then Jilly and Jake have a day out, and I get a photo like this. Jake munching away on lunch in a fantastic getup like this. As for work, it brightens part of my day to get a photo like this in the mail, until I realize I have another 5 hours [...] Introducing the Craftsman CompuCarve Computer-Controlled Compact Woodworking Machine. Normally I’d consider this “cheating”, but I imagine there are some applications for this that just aren’t possible with normal (manual) carving. At $1899 it brings CNC into the realm of possibility for the average joe… but like anything that makes it easy for the average joe [...] Spiders have eyebrows… who knew!?Jake is still drawing a lot, adding bits and pieces as he goes. Today he added eyebrows to his happy spider to denote more emotion. He’s very industrious with his drawing, concentrating on his pictures to the exclusion of everything else until he’s done — including his daddy telling him he [...] For stone there’s a need to have sharp chisels, but you don’t need them nearly as sharp as you need your wood carving knives. For this, the “Chipping Away Ultimate Power Honer” is quite impressive. It’s quite fairly priced at $242.95, fair considering that for me to buy all the metal parts myself would run [...] This is Jake’s rendition of the family, from right to left: Mommy, Duncan, Daddy, and Jake.Apparently Daddy has 3 eyes, and Mommy has scary hair.Also today, Jake counted up to 118 all by himself. I love this boy! [...] Not only does Jake draw some really cool pictures, but he also imbues them with a sense of humor and detail that astounds me.This one is a ghost that’s sticking his tongue out, with the moon and stars in the background. Apparently it’s a teenage ghost as you can tell from the spots on his [...] This absolutely floored me. This morning Jake asked to have the markers so he could do some drawing. I asked him what he wanted to draw and he said “Spiders!”I turned away for a minute, then he called out “look at my spider!”This is his drawing. On the left is the happy spider, and on [...] Jake has recently taken up wearing a pair of Storm sunglasses when he goes riding in the car, which is insanely cute but even cuter when he’s napping. Since it seems like I only put up pictures of him sleeping, here’s a picture of him WIDE awake. [...] The answer, I’m sure, has to be yes. There’s almost nothing BUT backwash in that cup. D is super cute, sure, but he’s also pretty headstrong. He’s convinced that going to bed is the worst punishment in the world, and it’s the rare evening when he doesn’t kick and scream when I put him [...] The other day I was putting Jacob to bed and he was super clingy, not wanting me to leave him. Since I was tired too, and Mommy was out at a Coöp meeting, I told him “let’s go to MommyDaddy’s bed and wait for Mommy to get home”. Well, he jumped right up at [...] Jake has just started potty training in earnest and recently took a four hour long naps in his big boy undies and stayed dry the whole time! Woo hoo! Here is a pic of him snuggling with brown bear, under a sheet, blanket, foot-thick down comforter, and fleece blankey. This, on one of the [...] You think a boy is nice, clean-cut, and responsible, but then he gets a pair of sunglasses on and he goes all punk on you. Three feet tall and already copping an attitude. Ah yes, this is why I taught him the Sex Pistols’ names early on, and showed him how to dance to the [...] What? you say, you knew that all along. Yep, but there’s this point where he went from baby boy to little boy… no more baby to him. For Jake it was when I was carrying him up the stairs and I had to turn sideways so his head and feet wouldn’t hit the sides. [...] There’s nothing like a towel that’s fresh and hot from the dryer. …unless it’s a whole basket of clothes fresh from the dryer. Mmm-mmmm-warm. Jake now does this thing we call “Bunny Kisses”, where he gets really close to our faces, and ever-so-gently rubs his nose on our cheeks. It’s the most delicate, loving thing he could possibly do. Awwwww…. [...] We have these magnetic shapes on the washer/dryer for the kids to play with. They come in a sheet of magnet material and you just pop out the shapes to stick to any appliance. Well, Jake found the already-emptied sheets in another room, then one-by-one he took them into the laundry and replaced all [...] Duncan and Jake have taken to wearing this hat around the house. It’s funny because Duncan hates to wear hats, and this is the only one that he’ll not only allow on his head, but voluntarily put it on. I put Jake to bed tonight, and as I was tucking him in and kissing him goodnight I said “kiss, kiss” as I kissed him. He took my face ever so gently in his hands and gave me the greatest, softest little kiss, then rolled over and went to sleep. This is the part [...] Jake loves to sing along to anything, and the Leapfrog alphabet is one of his favorites. It starts out “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls.” Jake morphs this into “Lazy gelm, poison squirrels” I yelled at Jake today because he’d climbed up on the counter and gotten ahold of a box of knives. I mean, I yelled “Stop! Leave it!” really loud, so he’d put them down and back away, but he didn’t. He actually stopped, turned around, and tried to put them back where he found [...] Here’s Jacob, lining up his shot. That, or he’s figuring out where best to lick that dee-licious ball. We go to Seattle Storm games all the time, so he knows what basketball is all about, and it’s fun to watch him try to copy what he sees on the court. [...] Plink, plink… here they are, demonstrating their musical ability at a very early age. This will be the photo on the liner notes of the album they release together (if they even have albums, or liner notes, or anything like that when they get that old). [...] Today is Jacob’s birthday, but Duncan is celebrating by holding a foot. You’ve probably seen this on the top page of catsniff, welcoming all who dare enter…Duncan’s just Mr. Giggles when it comes to changing his diaper or clothes. I wonder if that will last? [...] … with ketchup. Of course we know they’re “Grilled Cheese”, but he says “girl cheese”. When I was little I wanted “boy cheese” sammiches and mom had to figure out why and how they were different. I think a tomato was added, that made it boyish. Happy Birthday, Anna! [...] The most amusing part of being a parent is dressing up your babies in cute costumes while they remain oblivious to it. Here’s a cute Baby Duncan in a baby bloo bunny costume, 11 days old. This is just incredible, how cute D is. He’s such a tiny little peanut! I can’t believe that Jake was ever this small, but he was at one time. The little wet spot on my chest is Dunky-drool, not male lactation as some of my co-workers helpfully pointed out. I’m way more comfortable with [...] Monday, October 11, 2004 I’m pret sure Jake doesn’t know what to make of Mr. D here. We want to be really careful that he doesn’t get jealous, but so far Jake treats Duncan like a piece of furniture. He’s interested in what’s going on, and looks to see what we’re all googooing and [...] That’s 5 pounds, 7.6 ozzes according to the scale. He was light, like a feather. Or like a smallish baby. Very mellow, mister. He just sort of sat there staring at the world. He looked sort of annoyed at being yanked out early. He is quieter than Jake was, but when he wants to yell [...] Here’s where Duncan made his first appearance. At this point neither Jill nor I knew the gender, so the Dr. had me call it out to Jill. I, of course, was speechless so I said something like “It’s a baby!” but I caught myself a second or so later and said “He’s a boy!” [...] Sometimes you really need to just sit and think for a moment. In what we don’t realize that for the next year is going to be a vanishingly rare event, Jacob sleeps in. Here’s where Jacob made his transition from Spud to Jacob. our little baby boy, jacob friday gallagher, was born on 4/2/03 at overlake hospital. he came out via c-section at 10:11 a.m and has driven his parents crazy with love and adoration since the first second he showed us his face. here’s how it happened: [...] |
